Where we began & where we are going...
Florida Capital Resource Center was founded in 2009 by Terence M. Lenamon and Cynthia O'Shea with the hope of providing capital defense attorneys with a one-stop source for death penalty resources, tools, and information. In addition, Florida Capital Resource Center strives to shed light on the problems and challenges of providing effective capital defense in an under-funded criminal justice and death penalty system.
Florida Capital Resource Center has just begun to build towards this goal. Some of the long-term initiatives of Florida Capital Resource Center include collecting and maintaining various databases related to death penalty statistics, maintaining listings of death qualified attorneys registered for indigent defense, maintaining a motion and appellate brief bank, providing a listserv for networking, maintaining databases to track death penalty legislation and jurisprudence, collecting and sharing sample voir dires, cross examinations, and jury instructions, publishing a newsletter, and promoting the creation of capital crimes clinics in law schools.
