Tania Alavi is a partner-attorney at the law firm of Alavi, Bird & Pozzuto, P.A. in Ocala, Florida.  Ms. Alavi graduated from the University of Florida in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.  She then went on to earn her law degree at the University of Florida College of Law, graduating in 1991. 

Though admitted to the bar in both Florida and the District of Columbia, Ms. Alavi practices primarily in Florida, focusing on criminal defense at the state and federal levels.  In addition, Ms. Alavi has been a certified family law mediator by the Florida Supreme Court since 2010 and has held an adjunct faculty position at the Univeristy of Florida College of Law since 2007.  She has been a guest speaker for the Florida Public Defender Association on criminal issues, a guest speaker in the area of DUI legal education, and a guest speaker on women in criminal defense. 

Currently, Ms. Alavi serves as co-chair of the death penalty committee for the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL), a member of the FACDL Legislative Committee, Chair of the Opposition to Legislation Subcommittee, and field supervisor for the Florida Capital Resource Center externship at the University of Florida College of Law.  She is former President of her local FACDL chapter and a former member of the FACDL Board of Directors.
